    • No longer qualifies
      • Principal office no longer in a HUBZone
      • 35% of FTE (Full-Time Employees) do NOT reside in a HUBZone anymore
      • No longer meets SBA size standards (use the tool below to find out if you do)
    • Did not recertify in time
      • Entities MUST recertify either 30 days BEFORE or 30 days AFTER the expiration date of the certification

How long does it typically take to get approved for HUBZone?

The general time frame for getting approved for a HUBZone Certification is 1-2 months. This all depends on if the documents uploaded are acceptable, all information entered correctly, and there are no issues with the SAM Registration.

How long does it take to renew my SAM Registration?

The duration to renew a SAM Registration is taking anywhere from 4-6 weeks due to new policies implemented with SAM and/or CAGE/DLA. If you are looking to do the process on your own, it can take anywhere from 2-3 months provided there are no pushbacks with the validation or documentation.

What does inactive with SAM.gov mean?

An expired or inactive SAM.gov registration means you will no longer receive any payments from grants or contracts until it is active again. To reactivate, you have two options:

    1. Do the process on your own using online resources to guide you (burden of time; 2-3 months)
    2. Use a filing assistance firm such as USBRI to assist you with the SAM Registration (4-6 weeks).

Who manages CAGE codes?

The assignment of CAGE Codes is managed by the Defense Logistics Agency of the US military (dla.mil). Once your SAM Registration goes through IRS validation, it will go through CAGE and you will be assigned (new SAM) or reviewed (renewal) by DLA. If you are unsure of your SAM Registration status, follow the steps below:

    • At the top of this page, select “Check SAM Status & Details” in red
    • Input your company’s legal business name, CAGE code, or UEI
    • A brief summary of your SAM Registration will generate which will include:
      • Expiration Date
      • NAICS Codes
      • POC’s

Is a DUNS number the same as an EIN?

Is there a difference between DUNS and EIN or TIN?

No, the UEI (formerly DUNS) number and your EIN or TIN (taxpayer identification) are not the same thing. To find out your registrations UEI number, follow the steps below:

    • At the top of this page, select Check SAM Status & Details
    • Input your company’s name or CAGE code
    • Then, a brief summary of your SAM Registration will generate including:
      • UEI
      • Expiration date
      • POC’s
      • NAICS Codes
      • and more

Why does my SAM Registration expire?

Your SAM Registration expires annually and must be renewed. If you have not logged in since the previous time the registration was completed, then it is most likely expired. To check the status, follow the steps below:

    • At the top of this page, select “Check SAM & UEI Status” in red
    • Input your company’s CAGE Code, legal business name, or UEI
    • Allow the page to generate the brief summary of  the SAM Registration with details such as
      • Expiration Date
      • NAICS Codes
      • POC’s
      • and more
