What are the compliance requirements for maintaining set-aside certifications?

One major compliance requirement for maintaining any set-aside is keeping your SAM Registration active and compliant. Each set-aside certification offered by the Small Business Administration (SBA) has it’s own procedures and standards for maintaining that specific certification.

Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB/EDWOSB)

According to SBA, maintaining a WOSB or EDWOSB certification requires participants to annually attest to meeting program requirements set forth in 13 CFR 127.  Annual attestation must be submitted within 30 days of the anniversary date of certification. Additionally, firms must undergo a program examination every three years conducted by SBA or a third-party certifier.

Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB/SDVOSB)

For VOSB and SDVOSB (Service Disabled Veteran-Owned) certifications, they are good for a total of three years. Once the three-year period is up, you must recertify and stay compliant

HUBZone Certification

You’ll need to recertify for the HUBZone program once a year. There is no limit to the length of time a business can participate as long as it continues to qualify. A “program examination” is required every 3 years to make sure you still meet the requirements as the map changes every 5 years and new locations arise. If yours is coming up for an examination, check and see if you are still in a HUBZone by clicking the button below.

As mentioned above, your SAM Registration must be in ACTIVE and good standing to qualify for a set-aside certification. If you are unsure if yours is active or if you have one. find out by using the tool below
