What are the compliance requirements for maintaining set-aside certifications?

One major compliance requirement for maintaining any set-aside is keeping your SAM Registration active and compliant. Each set-aside certification offered by the Small Business Administration (SBA) has it’s own procedures and standards for maintaining that specific certification.

Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB/EDWOSB)

According to SBA, maintaining a WOSB or EDWOSB certification requires participants to annually attest to meeting program requirements set forth in 13 CFR 127.  Annual attestation must be submitted within 30 days of the anniversary date of certification. Additionally, firms must undergo a program examination every three years conducted by SBA or a third-party certifier.

Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB/SDVOSB)

For VOSB and SDVOSB (Service Disabled Veteran-Owned) certifications, they are good for a total of three years. Once the three-year period is up, you must recertify and stay compliant

HUBZone Certification

You’ll need to recertify for the HUBZone program once a year. There is no limit to the length of time a business can participate as long as it continues to qualify. A “program examination” is required every 3 years to make sure you still meet the requirements as the map changes every 5 years and new locations arise. If yours is coming up for an examination, check and see if you are still in a HUBZone by clicking the button below.

As mentioned above, your SAM Registration must be in ACTIVE and good standing to qualify for a set-aside certification. If you are unsure if yours is active or if you have one. find out by using the tool below

With the SAM database constantly evolving and updating, it can be challenging to navigate and locate specific information, such as your expiration date. However, by following the straightforward instructions in this guide, you’ll be able to quickly find the information you need and avoid any potential issues or interruptions to your business with the federal government.

Whether you’re a long-established business or new to the world of government contracting, knowing your SAM registration expiration date is vital in maintaining your eligibility for contracts and grants. So, let’s get started and discover how to easily find your SAM registration expiration date.

What is the SAM Registration Expiration Date?

The SAM registration expiration date refers to the date when your business’s registration in the System for Award Management will expire. The federal government requires businesses to maintain an active and up-to-date SAM registration to ensure fair competition and transparency in the procurement process.

Knowing your SAM registration expiration date is essential for several reasons. First and foremost, it allows you to proactively manage your business’s eligibility for government contracts and grants. By staying aware of your expiration date, you can ensure that you renew your registration in a timely manner, avoiding any disruptions to your ability to bid on or receive government contracts.

Additionally, knowing your SAM registration expiration date enables you to plan ahead. If you have contracts or projects that extend beyond your expiration date, you can take the necessary steps to renew your registration before it lapses, ensuring a seamless transition and uninterrupted business operations.

Understanding the Importance of Your SAM Registration Expiration Date

When it comes to contracting with the federal government, your SAM registration expiration date holds significant importance. SAM is the portal the federal government uses to track where money is going, to who, and for what when concerning contracts and grants. Maintaining an active registration is a requirement for businesses looking to bid on government contracts or apply for grants.

If your SAM registration expires, your business will no longer be eligible to receive government contracts or grants. This could result in missed opportunities, loss of revenue, and decreased credibility with government agencies. Therefore, it’s crucial to regularly check and stay informed about your SAM registration expiration date to ensure your business remains in good standing.
