How long does it take to get a SAM number?

The “SAM number” is known as the UEI (Unique Entity Identifier) which was previously the DUNS number. Once your registration is submitted for processing and validation, a UEI will be assigned to the entity immediately.

Where can I look up my UEI?

To look up your UEI, follow these steps below:

  • Visit www.usbri.us
  • At the top of the home page, select “Check SAM Expiration Date” in red

How long does it take to get a entity ID SAM.gov?

After submitting a completed registration, your entity will immediately be assigned a UEI (Unique Entity Identifier) Number. Then, the registration will go through an IRS and a CAGE/DLA validation process to complete and activate the registration.

Is the DUNS number no longer being used?

As of April 2022, the Data Universal Number System (DUNS) provided by Dun & Bradstreet is no longer the national entity identifier in SAM.gov. It is now called a UEI (Unique Entity Identifier).
