Is UEI and EIN the same?

No, your UEI assigned by SAM is not the same as your tax payer EIN number assigned by the IRS. If you are unsure of your UEI, follow the steps below:

    • At the top of this page, select Check SAM Status & Details in red
    • Input your company’s name or CAGE code
    • Then, a brief summary of your SAM Registration will generate including:
      • UEI
      • Expiration date
      • POC’s
      • NAICS Codes

What does a UEI number look like?

A UEI number looks like a 12-character alphanumeric code. It is a mix of letters and numbers assigned by SAM. If you are unsure of your company’s UEI number, follow the steps below:

Where can I find my UEI number?

What is my unique entity ID?

Your Unique Entity ID (UEI) is 12-character alphanumerical code that is assigned to your entity. In April of 2022, it replaced the 9-digit DUNS number. If you are unsure of your company’s UEI number, use the SAM Status Lookup Tool by following these steps:

Do CAGE codes expire?

While SAM Registrations expire 365 days after the submittal date, CAGE codes only expire 5 years if the SAM Registration has not been active.
