According to the DLA, the purpose of a CAGE Code is to provide a standardized method of identifying a given facility at a specific location. If you are unsure of what your CAGE code is, follow the steps below:

• • At the top of this page, select “Check SAM Status & Details” in red
  • Input your company’s legal business name (CAGE Code or UEI if known)
  • Allow the page to reload and generate a brief summary of your SAM Registration including
    • CAGE Code
    • UEI
    • Expiration Date
    • NAICS Codes
    • and more

No, a CAGE Code is not the same thing as a DUNS number. CAGE Codes are assigned by DLA (Defense Logistics Agency) while the DUNS number was the old identification system, replaced by UEI in 2022. If you are unsure of your UEI or CAGE Code, follow the steps below:

A CAGE code is good for as long as the SAM Registration is active. If a SAM Registration goes inactive for three years or more, the CAGE Code then expires.

To obtain a CAGE Code, your SAM Registration must go through CAGE/DLA validation. If it passes, your CAGE code will be assigned to your entity.
