How much does applying to GSA cost?

Initially there are no cost to an application or additional fees when applying to GSA. Before you can proceed further you must be registered with SAM. How much money is set aside for small businesses?

According to GSA (General Services Administration), the federal government purchase between $10,000 to $250,000 for small businesses. With that, the Simplified Acquisition Procedure (or SAP) is in place to make federal government purchase’s under $250k more simple and efficient. In order to qualify as a small business, you must meet the standards set forth by the SBA (Small Business Administration).

If you used the SAM Status Tool and discovered you don’t have a SAM Registration or the one you have is set to expire soon, begin the process NOW. What does it mean to be a contractor?

To be a federal contractor means to be hired by the federal government to take on work or a task. The federal government, via SAM or GSA, can seek out individuals and/or their companies to perform a job for them. In order to become a federal contractor, you MUST be registered in SAM.gov as that is the portal that they track where money goes, to who, and for what.

    • At the top of this page, select “SAM & UEI Status Lookup Tool”
    • Input your company’s UEI, CAGE code, or FULL legal business name
    • Answer the security question select “Check SAM Status NOW” in blue
    • Allow the page to generate a brief summary of your registration that includes
      • CAGE Code and UEI
      • Expiration Date
      • Primary NAICS Codes
      • PSC and FSC Codes
      • Primary POC’s
      • and more
