What  is Form 4022? Do I need to fill it out?

If you receive anything pertaining to the importance of filing Form 4022 as well as paying $117, DO NOT FILL THE FORM OUT OR SEND MONEY. This is a clever way for companies to obtain money and information from individuals.. There is no such thing as “Form 4022” from the IRS and especially no fee needs to paid to file said form.

If you receive any calls, mail, or emails that look suspicious:

    • Read the fine print at the bottom of any email or letter you receive
    • Be cautious clicking on links or downloading any attachments
    • Check the email address of the sender. Any email from the Federal Government ends with a “.gov” or “.mil“, if not, then it is most likely a creative marketing email from a private organization offering services
    • Be highly cautious taking any immediate actions from incoming calls or emails regarding any of these topics

When was DUNS transferred to UEI?

DUNS Number: When did it change to UEI?

Back in 2022, the DUNS numbers where dissolved and switched to SAM’s own identification system known as the UEI (Unique Entity Identifier). You should have received an email when the change happened stating what your UEI is for your entity.  If you did not, follow the step below:

    • At the top of this page, select “Check SAM & UEI Status“
    • Input your company’s LEGAL BUSINESS NAME or CAGE Code
    • Solve the security question and select “Check SAM Status NOW”
    • The page will generate a brief summary of your SAM Registration which will include:
      • UEI Number
      • Expiration Date (if within 60 days, begin the renewal process NOW)
      • NAICS, PSC, and FSC Codes
      • POC’s

No, the NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) is NOT the same thing as the IRS assigned EIN (Employer Identification Number). The NAICS code is a 5-6 digit set of numbers used to identify what your company provides as a service and is only used in the context of federal contracting. When registering in SAM, you will be asked to input your NAICS Code.
