What’s the difference between CCR and SAM?

The Central Contractor Registration (CCR), was the government’s database used strictly for validating, publicizing, and passing on data about suppliers and other entities doing business with the government. In 2012, the government created the System for Award Management (SAM), which works with government contractors, vendors, and others looking to do business with the government. Since CCR was replaced, SAM has become the prime portal for all things pertaining to federal contracting work.
