VOSB (Veteran-Owned Small Business) Certification eligibility is determined by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Small Business Administration (SBA). To check VOSB eligibility, follow these steps below:

    • Ensure that the business is at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more veterans.

    • The veteran owner(s) must demonstrate direct ownership and control of the business. Control involves both day-to-day management and long-term decision-making.
  4. Active Management:
    • The veteran owner(s) must actively oversee the business’ day-to-day operations.
  5. SAM Registration and Assistance:
    • Ensure that the business is registered in the System for Award Management (SAM). This is required for federal contracting.   6. VetBiz Certification:
    • For VA contracts, businesses need to be verified as a VOSB or SDVOSB (Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business) through the VA’s Center for Verification and Evaluation (CVE). The verification process involves submitting documentation.
  7. Documentation:
    • Prepare and submit all necessary documentation, including the required forms and proof of veteran status, to the appropriate agency for verification. USBRI will guide you through the process as well as making sure you have all necessary documents ready for submission.
