To check your VOSB (Veteran-Owned Small Business) Qualification, you need to follow the verification process set by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The verification process is managed by the VA’s Center for Verification and Evaluation (CVE).

  1. Verify Veteran Status: Ensure that the business is at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more veterans.
  2. Size Standards: Confirm that the business meets SBA Small Business Size Standards by using the Small Business Calculator Tool.
  3. Ownership and Control: The veteran owner(s) must demonstrate direct ownership and control of the business. Control involves both day-to-day management and long-term decision-making.
  4. Active Management: The veteran owner(s) must actively oversee the business’ day-to-day operations.
  5. SAM Registration and Assistance: Ensure that the business is registered in the System for Award Management (SAM). This is required for federal contracting. USBRI has been offering filing assistance regarding the SAM Registration, Small Business, and Set-Aside Certifications for over 11 years. If you need assistance or have any questions, contact the USBRI Help Desk at 1-888-646-9998.
  6. VOSB Eligibility Questionnaire: Complete the VOSB Eligibility Questionnaire to know if you are eligible for the VOSB Certification.
