The Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) is a 12-character alphanumeric identifier that the U.S. government uses to uniquely identify entities (such as companies, nonprofits, and government agencies) doing business with the federal government. The UEI replaced the DUNS number as the primary means of entity identification for federal awards government-wide.
