What is the SAM Registration for?

The SAM portal is a way for the federal government to keep track of contracting payments and grant award payments. It is a way to keep track of where federal contracting dollars are going, to who, and for what purpose. Any business in the United States (or internationally) must be registered in SAM in order to do business with the federal government.
