DUNS Number; What is it good for?
DUNS Number was the old classification system used for SAM Registration’s before it was replaced in 2022 by the UEI. The UEI number is assigned to any and all entities registered in SAM and is required for any federal grants or contracting.
If you are a business of any kind planning to do business with the federal government, you MUST have a SAM Registration. To lookup your UEI, follow the steps below:

- At the top of this page, select “Check SAM & UEI Status“
- Input your company’s legal business name or CAGE code
- Complete the security question
- Select “Check SAM Status NOW”
- Allow the page to generate a brief summary of your registration which will include:
- UEI
- CAGE Code
- Expiration Date
- PSC, FSC, and NAICS Codes
- and more

If your SAM Registration is set to expire in 60 days, begin the renewal process NOW. The SAM Registration processes can be tedious and time consuming as new procedures have been implemented in the last couple of years.
