A UEI (Unique Entity Identifier) number is a 12-character alphanumerical identifier assigned by SAM. gov when you register an entity into the database. The purpose of obtaining a SAM registration is so you or your business can bid on federal contracting opportunities or grant work. When doing business with the US federal government, having a SAM Registration is the first step.
If you are unsure if you have a SAM Registration, follow the s steps below:

- At the top of this page, select “SAM & UEI Status Lookup Tool”
- Input your company’s UEI, CAGE code, or FULL legal business name
- Answer the security question select “Check SAM Status NOW” in blue
- Allow the page to generate a brief summary of your registration that includes
- CAGE Code and UEI
- Expiration Date
- Primary NAICS Codes
- PSC and FSC Codes
- Primary POC’s
- and more
