Qualifying for HUBZone No-Bid Contracts

The HUBZone program, managed by the SBA, helps small businesses in economically distressed areas access federal contracts, including no-bid opportunities. This initiative aims to boost local economies by encouraging businesses to operate and hire within HUBZones, offering certified companies a competitive edge in securing government work.

To qualify for HUBZone certification, businesses must meet the following criteria:

• Be a small business as defined by SBA standards.
• Be at least 51% owned and controlled by U.S. citizens or other eligible entities.
• Have a principal office located within a designated HUBZone.
• Ensure at least 35% of employees reside in a HUBZone.

Maintaining HUBZone eligibility requires annual recertification and compliance with residency and location requirements. Monitoring employee addresses and office locations is essential for staying certified and continuing to leverage the program’s benefits for business growth and community impact.
