Understanding how your business can qualify for federal set-aside contracts is the first step toward unlocking federal contracting opportunities. According to the SBA size standards, your business may qualify as a federal small business if it meets one or more of the following criteria:
- Operates in a designated HUBZone (Historically Underutilized Business Zone)
- Is at least 51% woman-owned (WOSB/EDWOSB)
- Is at least 51% veteran-owned (VOSB/SDVOSB)
- Is certified under the SBA’s 8(a) Business Development Program for socially or economically disadvantaged businesses
- Meets the industry-specific SBA Size Standards, typically based on annual revenue or the number of employees
